Privacy policy

1. Controller

The controller for data processing on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Hellsicht GmbH, Winchester Str. 2, 35394 Gießen, Germany

Represented by its Managing Director, Ralf Pohl

Phone: +49 641 39990559

Email: hello@hellsicht.com

2. In brief

We process personal data only where it is necessary to provide a working website and our content and services, or where you give us the data yourself.

This website is purely informational. It sets no cookies, embeds no analytics, tracking or advertising services, and loads no content from third-party servers when you open it. There are no user accounts.

Traffic between your browser and this website is encrypted via HTTPS.

3. Visiting the website, and hosting

When you open our website, your browser transmits technically necessary data which our hosting provider records in server log files: IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, the volume of data transferred, browser type and version, operating system, and where applicable the page you came from.

The purpose is to deliver the website, to keep the system secure and stable, and to investigate misuse. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in operating the site securely and reliably.

This data is not combined with other sources and is not used to identify you personally. Log files are deleted automatically after a short period, at the latest after 30 days.

We host this website on Microsoft Azure. The provider is Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Microsoft.

The website runs in a data centre inside the European Union. In individual cases — support, or defending against attacks — processing by Microsoft Corporation in the United States may occur. Microsoft is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

4. No cookies, but one local display setting

We set no cookies — neither our own nor third-party ones, neither for statistics nor for advertising. That is also why this website has no cookie banner.

If you use the switch in the header to move between the light and dark theme, your browser stores that choice on your device in local storage, under the key “hellsicht-theme”. The value is either “light” or “dark”, it never leaves your device, and it allows no conclusions about who you are.

This storage happens because you actively make the setting, and it is necessary for the service you asked for (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete the entry at any time in your browser settings; the website then works exactly as before and starts again in its default light theme.

5. No analytics or tracking services

We use no web analytics, no audience measurement, no advertising networks and no social media plugins.

No third-party content is embedded, and none is loaded when you open the site.

6. Fonts

This website uses the Geist and Geist Mono typefaces. They are not fetched from a third-party server while you browse: they are downloaded when the site is built and served from our own server. Visiting the site therefore opens no connection to Google Fonts or any other font provider, and your IP address is not transmitted to one.

7. The map

The map in the “Office” section is not an embedded map service. It is generated once from OpenStreetMap data when the site is built and served as a graphic from our own server. Displaying it therefore transmits no data to OpenStreetMap or to any tile provider.

Map data: © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL).

8. Booking a call via Microsoft Bookings

The “Book a call” buttons are links to a booking page hosted by Microsoft (bookings.cloud.microsoft). You only leave our website once you follow such a link; nothing from Microsoft is loaded on our own pages and no connection to Microsoft is opened there.

The details you enter on that page — in particular your name, email address and the slot you choose — are processed by Microsoft Corporation or Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited and made available to us so that we can keep the appointment. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract).

This may involve a transfer to the United States. Microsoft is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details of Microsoft's processing can be found in Microsoft's own privacy statement.

If you would rather not book through Microsoft, you can reach us at any time using the contact details above.

9. Demo environment requests

The “Request access” form, reached via the “See the demo environment” and “Request demo access” buttons, lets you request personal access to our demo environment. In doing so we collect your name, email address, phone number and company.

We use these details solely to set up your access and to contact you about it. They are not passed on for advertising purposes or to uninvolved third parties, and you will not receive a newsletter.

The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, given via the checkbox in the form, together with Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for providing the access itself. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future — an informal email to hello@hellsicht.com is enough. The lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal is unaffected.

We delete your details once the access has ended and the request has been dealt with, at the latest after twelve months, unless statutory retention periods require otherwise.

We use no external form service for this form. Your details are sent to an endpoint we operate ourselves within our Azure environment and are handled by us alone. Beyond the hosting described in section 3, no further service provider receives them.

10. Contacting us by email or phone

If you contact us by email or by phone, we process what you tell us in order to deal with your enquiry and in case of follow-up questions.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract or its initiation, and otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in answering it.

We delete the data once your enquiry has been settled and no statutory retention obligations apply. Commercial correspondence is subject to the six- and ten-year periods under German commercial and tax law.

11. Who receives your data

We do not sell your data and do not pass it on for advertising. The only processor acting for us is Microsoft, which hosts this website (section 3). Microsoft also acts as the operator of the booking page, if you choose to arrange an appointment there yourself (section 8). No other service providers are involved.

Beyond that, we disclose data only where we are legally required to.

12. Your rights

You have the right to obtain information about the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR), to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) and to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR).

You also have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR).

Any consent you have given can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR).

An informal message to hello@hellsicht.com is enough for all of this.

13. Right to lodge a complaint

If you believe that the processing of your data infringes the GDPR, you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR) — in particular in the EU member state of your habitual residence, your place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement.

The authority responsible for us is the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Wiesbaden.

14. No automated decision-making

No automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.

15. Providing your data

You are under no obligation to give us personal data. Without the details in the demo-environment form, however, we cannot set up access for you, and without contact details we cannot answer an enquiry.

16. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the legal position or the processing on this website changes — for instance because a further service is added. The version published here applies to your visit.
